DESCRIPTION:
Neomycin Sulphate is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside type and is used to treat bacterial infections.
 
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Neomycin binds to a specific receptor protein on the 30 S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, and interferes with an initiation complex between mRNA (messenger RNA) and the 30 S subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis. DNA may be misread , thus producing non functional proteins; polyribosomes are split apart and are unable to synthesize protein.
 
INDICATIONS:
Treatment of minor bacterial skin infections and dermal ulcer, in the prophylaxis of superficial infections in burns, scalds, wounds, cuts, ulcers, boils, impetigo, otitis externa.
 
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of this medicine and children under two year old.
 
SIDE-EFFECTS:
Itching, pain, skin rash, scaling, swelling, redness, or other signs of skin irritation.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Apply thinly and evenly on the affected area of the skin.
